Getting Care
Trouble focusing, poor sleep, and restlessness can come from ADHD, anxiety, or depression. Here is how they overlap, how they differ, and why the right diagnosis matters.
Depression
Medication for depression usually needs 4 to 8 weeks to work fully. Here is what tends to change first, week by week, and when to call your provider.
Getting Care
The first month on a new psychiatric medication is mostly an adjustment period. Here is what it tends to feel like, what is normal, and when to call your provider.
In person in Long Beach, or by secure telehealth, wherever you are in California.
Telehealth available across California, with new locations coming to Northern California.
We’re in-network with most major plans, including Aetna, Anthem, Beacon Health Options, Carelon, Cigna, Evernorth, and more. We do not currently take Medi-Cal managed care. Not sure about yours? Use “Verify your coverage” below and our team will confirm your benefits, or give us a call.
Same-week appointments are often available for new patients. Reach out and we’ll match you with a provider and find a time that works for you.
No. Nothing is started, changed, or stopped without talking it through with you first. Care begins with a thorough psychiatric evaluation; if medication is one of your options, your provider explains the benefits, the risks, and the possible side effects in plain language, and you decide together. Many people want to understand their options before deciding anything. That’s exactly what the first visit is for.
Our care is psychiatric: diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing medication management. We don’t provide talk therapy in house, but we coordinate therapy referrals when they would help, so the two sides of your care stay connected rather than separate.
We care for children (6–17), adults and elders (65+), in person in Long Beach or by secure telehealth across California. If someone’s needs fall outside what we treat, we’ll say so honestly and help point you toward the right care.
Yes. We provide secure video visits across greater Los Angeles and all of California, alongside in-person care at our Long Beach office, so you can get support in whatever way feels most comfortable.
Your first visit is an unhurried conversation. Your provider listens to what you’re experiencing, answers your questions, and works with you on a plan that feels right, with no pressure.
Yes. Your health information is protected under HIPAA. We use it to provide your care, bill your insurance, and run our practice. Beyond that, we only share it with your written authorization, or in the narrow situations the law requires (for example, a court order or a serious safety risk). Our Notice of Privacy Practices explains each one.
Cost shouldn’t be a barrier to care. Our self-pay rates are $250 for an initial psychiatric evaluation (about an hour) and $150 for a follow-up visit (about 30 minutes), and sliding-scale options are available. You’ll know what your care will cost before your first appointment. Just ask.
Still unsure? A short call answers most questions. No obligation, no pressure.
We're in-network with most major plans, so care stays affordable. Not sure about yours? Verify your coverage in about a minute, or we'll gladly check it for you.
No card to hand? Leave your name, phone number and email, tick “look it up for me”, and we'll do the checking. Self-pay & sliding-scale options are also available.
Plans we accept

We confirm your benefits before your first appointment and tell you plainly what your care will cost. No surprise bills, no fine print. If you’re paying out of pocket, ask about self-pay and sliding-scale options.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, medications, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
